Dead-weight
Measured in tons. It is principally the sum of the cargo capacity of a ship, fuel on board , fresh water , stores , crew and effects plus constants (weight which cannot be removed from the tanks or the double bottoms of a ship like mud etc.). Dead-weight = displacement minus light ship
