Gas tanker
special ship for the transportation of condensed (liquid) gases. The most important cargoes are:LNG - Liquefied Natural Gas (mostly methane).LPG - Liquefied Petroleum Gas (propane, butane).Ammonia.Ethylene.On board, gases are kept liquid with highly effective insulation (thermosbottle-principle), by high pressure or by low temperature. LNG-ships must be able to carry cargoes with temperatures as low as -163°C.
