A Japanese suffix denoting 'skill' or 'art'. In martial terms it denotes classic combat weapons skills, for example, ken-jutsu; ju-jutsu, and so on.

Some of the more popular were karate-jutsu, kenjutsu, aiki-jutso, and jujutsu; these were the antecedents of karate-do, kendo, aikido, and judo. Also spelled jitsu.
