His 14 goals for Tenerife in 1998/99 meant a move to a bigger club was inevitable and he continued finding the net in a wonderful first season with Deportivo, his goals proving a major factor as the club landed their first ever Spanish title. His exploits in Spain have not gone unnoticed back in the Netherlands, earning him a place in the Dutch squad. He played previously for SBV Vitesse.
