Brought 15-year relationship with Sampdoria to end by joining coach Sven-Goran Eriksson in move south to Lazio. Symbol of Sampdoria's golden era, Mancini was bought from Bologna in 1982 to form "terrible twins" partnership with Gianluca Vialli. Helped the Genoa club to a European Cup Winners' Cup triumph in 1990, their first Italian championship a year later and the final of the European Cup in 1992. Despite more than 150 career goals, highest among active Serie A strikers, he is now better known as goalmaker.
